Articles Relevant to Parapsychology in Journals of Various Fields (XLII)

by Maurice van Luijtelaar and Renaud Evrard

In the forty-second installment of our bibliography, we present 235 articles from 195 different journals. A wide range of subjects was covered. Twenty-two journals provided multiple articles.

We included five titles from a special issue of Martor. The Museum of the Romanian Peasant Anthropology Review, 28 (2023), about “Witchcraft, magic, divination and the twenty-first century,” by Bărbulescu, E., Jiga Iliescu, L., Khristoforova, O., Mihaela, C., and Worobec, C. D.

A conference report by Alireza Matin (2023) is added to this bibliography because it provides an indirect criticism of the article by Somayeh Mohammadsadeghipour et al. (2023) on NDE. The latter is based on an Iranian TV series Life after Life. According to Matin, this TV series combines a selection of NDE narratives with religious specialists’ exegesis to provide an ideological analysis that reaffirms Shi’ism as a reality.

We want to draw special attention to an article by Mervyn Bendle (2023), “A. J. Ayer and the meaning of life,” about the near-death experience of the famous philosopher and atheist Sir Alfred Ayer (1910-1989). Adhering to the school of “logical positivism,” Ayer thought that religious beliefs and claims about life after death are nonsense because they are not empirically verifiable.

We appreciate bibliographic input from our readers. PA Members are requested to forward titles of relevant articles to mauricevanluijtelaar4@outlook.com or evrardrenaud@gmail.com
